The Makotokai method
|
The Shotokan karate practised today has been taught by japanese masters affiliates to the JKA (Japan Karate Association) who wanted to put into practice master's Funakoshi techniques, that is the new way of execution that developed in the post-war period and that is characterized by meticulous order, harness and paramilitary discipline.
The original teaching method has been modified and has been adapted to the western mentality, it has tried to maintain, anyway, the original features of the discipline, without success.
We have repeated for many years the techniques that we thought corrected, but who has analyzed deeply the knowledge of techniques by carefully looking at old and new film sequences have realized that the Japanese did not practice karate in the same way. The mistake was to didn't take into account the (physical) characteristics and aptitudes of a single individual.
Other styles have tried a softer approach but often this has translate in inefficiency and instability
The original karate practised in Okinawa at those times was undoubtedly less rigid, more ergonomic and healthy.
At the Makoto we propose a method that takes into account the potentialities of all and is aplicable to children, young people, adults and old ones in the respect of the two primary requirements of the practical one: effectiveness and health
